So I have decided its time to switch gears a bit here and maybe help to inspire you to go pick up a book or two. Now that the wedding is all behind us, I have actually found time to read again, and with winter ahead, I know I will be zipping through books again.
So just wanted to give you a few suggestions, maybe something you wouldn't normally pick up! .
Book Review: The Hunger Games Trilogy
By: Suzanne Collins
Ok. So one of my nurses at work says to me: OMG! I am reading the best book! You have to read it!”
She then proceeds to summarize it to me: The world is destroyed and there are only a few (thousand?) survivors left. What used to be the mighty UNITED STATES OF AMERICA ! is now a county called Panem, which is divided into 13 districts and controlled by the Capitol. Each year, each district has all the children between certain ages put their name in a draw and one boy and one girl is picked from each district to represent in the Hunger Games.
The two “chosen” from each district are shuttled to the city, transformed and thrown into a fabricated world where they fight to the death.
Ok. So not gunna lie: after hearing this, I kinda went, mmm, not too sure.
Had to eat those words back up once I started reading.
I was about half way through the first book, loving it so much that I knew there was no way I could wait for the next two books. Without even finishing the first, I got online and ordered the box set!
So good! Soo good! And if it doesn’t sound like your shtyk, try something new!
It’s a quick easy read and a great story ta boot! Can't wait to see the movie adaptation that will be out in March.
Cheers!
