She Wore Maggie

Well, I'm not winning points in the “order of events” category, as this should have been one of my first posts on Post Wedding Talk. BUT! In my defence, we only just got our professional wedding pictures this last week, so there weren't too many great pictures to showcase our beauty ;)…and in Weebo’s case, handsome-ness!

So, though it’s not in order, (better that than never), let me paint the picture of the first time in my life I have ever felt like a princess!

Head-to-toe…here we go!

I am not a frilly person (nor am I overly traditional), so for me to have worn a traditional wedding veil was out of the question! When we started going to all the bridal shows in the spring, I had discovered what can only be described as the perfect head piece for me: the birdcage!

I found one that I loved at the bridal shop along with a beautiful hair clip, and so begun the “Audrey Hepburn” look that came to be (that was the only clue I would give Weebo as to what my dress/look looked like ;)
Hair and makeup: I had gone in for my consult about 2 months before the wedding, with a picture of a hairstyle in hand. She aced it! It was exactly what I wanted and she hit it dead on! On The Big Day, I had mentioned that I would like it a “big bigger on the top” (I'm a big hair lady) and I got my poof with all my glam.

I'm a makeup lover, have loved it since I was little and mom used to let me play dress up. That being said, I have only had my make up professionally done twice in my life. So this was a big step outside the box for me.

I told her that I like dark smoky eyes and because I would be wearing my glasses (which are quite heavy colored themselves) I needed my eyes to pop even more.

Yet again, she aced it! If I could only look that spectacular every day...oy vay!
My jewelry was simple and classic. It was nothing fancy, just costume jewelry that I found. I think that it did exactly what it was supposed to do. It caught the light in all the right places, but didn't get too busy with everything else that I had going on.
And now…The Dress.

I wore a beautiful gown by Maggie Soterro. It was the first dress I tired on, followed by about 15 others…ones with hoops and lace and foof. It was also the last dress I tried on...I truly felt like a princess!

It was an ivory satin, A-line gown with sweetheart neckline with a fantastic corset closure. It had flattering ruching that wrapped through the bodice and plummeted to below the waist. The bling was modest but wonderful and the train…sigh…it was truly swoon-worthy!
My shoes: My pride and glory, though due to sore feet, they were kicked off soon after the pictures. I knew right from the get-go that I didn't want ivory shoes. They are boring and I wanted to be able to wear them again. (Cuz seriously: what woman doesn't love a great pair of shoes?)

At the bridal store, I found a fantastic pair of dyeables that I love love LOVED! I took them to this great shoe guy at the local mall, with a splotch of fabric (the same that we had used for the ring pillows) and HE MATCHED THEM PERFECTLY! The best part was that when Weebo and I went to go pick them up, as soon as I walked into the mall, I could see them on the shelf…well I was like Weebo in a candy shop. Understatement: thrilled!
I sparkled. I glowed. And as I mentioned before: I felt like a princess.
Just wanted to run down the isle to see my Prince Charming ;)

Cheers!
