I’m back! And I didn’t even tell you I was leaving ;)
And what a trip that was! I was off to defrost for a bit in Puerto Vallarta Mexico with a great friend of mine from work. Sunshine, beaches and tones of relaxing by the pool.
The highlight of the trip hands down was whale watching. January in Puerto Vallarta is humpback whale breeding season in the bay and after we had heard the second group of people come back, raving about how fantastic it was, my friend and I hurried and booked a trip out for ourselves.
It has been on it for a while now, and I am now very happy to say that whale watching can be crossed off of my bucket list!
At first I was afraid that we would be skunked with seeing any of these magnificent creatures, but happy to say that at one point there were so many, you didn’t know where to put your eyes! Our guide was fantastic…friendly and so knowledgeable (I should hope so as she is taking her PhD...studying humpback whale behavior) The captain of our boat was so sensitive in making sure he didn’t crowd them in any way and before moving the boat, made sure he knew where they were. It was all around one of the greatest experiences of my life! These animals are more majestic then I could have imagined! Quite breathtaking!
The rest of the trip was filled with much tequila, much sunshine and some fantastic food! Great company and lots of laughs made for a super winter getaway.
The worst part of it all though: arriving home in Edmonton to an over 60 degree temperature swing :s When we left Mexico : +33 degrees Celsius. Arrival in Edmonton ? -42 with the wind-chill.
Always makes me wonder how I live here?
Good news is that this cold snap isn’t supposed to stick around and after being babied for December with very abnormally warm temperatures, we knew it was coming. But STILL! Today is -28…that’s what the little icon in the corner of my PC says…and I’m sure that that without any wind-chill factored it.
Cheers!
