Update post today!
A while ago I killed some time came up with a lovely To Do List of house chores so that I could quit wasting an entire weekend cleaning the house. I said I would update you as to how it went...well, it's overdue but here is the update.
This summer I really slacked at it, cuz really, who cares about a clean house when you can be outside in the sunshine?!. But otherwise it’s gone
surprisingly good. I have tweaked it a bit and found that I don’t have to do
the entire list every week, as we are not that dirty of a household. I have also cut it down into basically two major afternoons of cleaning (Tuesdays and Wednesdays) which frees up another afternoon for me. Depending on the week and the workday though, things sometimes do get shuffled up a bit.
But here is the long and short of it.
But here is the long and short of it.
Hubby works out of town. When
he is home, the list more or less goes to shit. The week he leaves, I do heavy
duty and follow the list almost to a T. The next week is a lick and a promise. Peat
and repeat.
Monday I have choir in the evenings, so after work is my declutter day: putting away laundry and tiding up all the random things that have been dumped around the
house all weekend. Tuesday I clean the upstairs...the bedrooms, two bathrooms and
hallways. Puppy is in day care once a week now, which works out perfectly for
Wednesdays’ To Do chores. He is so pooped after playing all day that he pretty much passes out and stays out from under my feet. (Plus he doesn't sit there and shoot dirty looks at me because I am cleaning instead of playing with him.) If I can, after picking him up from daycare, I will stop and grab groceries and then head home to clean. I do the main floor: half-bath, living, dining and family rooms, which tend to get
the dirtiest (dust and dog hair).
Thursdays are any last few
things and get the garbage’s out, unless Wednesday fell to shit and I didn't get all my cleaning done. In which case, I then do leftover chores from Wednesday. ;)
There are few things better in life than a clean house and I love that my weekends are now free for me to do things that make me happy!
Cheers!
